Woodie Awards arouse college students’ attention

Coming to you directly from the Rosemary Ballroom in New York City, I present the new generation of musicians voted for by college students, for college students at the 2008 MTV Woodie Awards. It is the only award show that allows college students to make the ultimate decision on the best music of the year and the best new up-and-coming talent as well as chance to see real artists that not might be the mainstream pop icons we are so fed up with.

According to TMZ.com, West was outraged when a photographer was trying to capture him walking through the American Airlines terminal. Freshfusion, Northern Kentucky University's annual student involvement activity, will take place on Sept. 3 at 4 p.m., thanks to the Activities Program Board and all student groups on campus. Free food and prizes will be given away throughout the night and although the name Freshfushion doesn't sound like an event for veteran students, it's not limited to freshman.

The 15-year-old is spunky and a bit weird at times, but recently she has been called promiscuous. SGA approves increase in tuition, financial aid

The Student Government Association approved increasing tuition to fund financial aid and scholarships at its meeting April 21. That resolution also eliminated the non-refundable fee for students who wish to take 17 or more credit hours. With the talk of money, and lack thereof, so prevalent, Gabe Cronon, Vice President of Student Involvement and president-elect, also proposed changing the Legacy Fund so that student organizations can have two travel events totaling $3,000 or one trip equaling $5,000, as well as up to $200 per academic year for operational purposes.

Northern Kentucky University is celebrating Kentucky Writer's Day, sponsored by the Kentucky Arts Council, April 24 in the Otto Budig Theatre from noon to 7 p.m. Frank Walker, a faculty member of the literature and language department, is in charge of the event and spearheading all of the readers and special guests in attendance.

Gospel choir shouts praise

Loud, energetic and passionate praises to God exploded out of the Otto Budig Theatre April 12, as the Anointed Voice Ministries held its spring concert, entitled "I Shall Live." The Anointed Voices Gospel Choir was started at Northern Kentucky University in the mid-1980s and is a non-profit student organization "dedicated to uplifting the name of Jesus through song and praise.

The Graduate Student Organization is sponsoring the latest reality show spin off, "Dancing with the Scholars," to be held in Regents hall at 7 p.m. on April 3. Johns Hill set for widening project

ill soon be a little different. Make that a lot different. That's because Northern Kentucky University, in conjunction with the Commonwealth of Kentucky, is planning on connecting the nearby street to Nunn Drive, the road that encircles campus. Construction on Johns Hill Road was originally set to begin in early 2008, but was delayed to 2009 due to the project's right-of-way negotiations.
