The Northerner is an online-first and weekly print publication highlighting Northern Kentucky University.

But we’re far from just a newspaper.

We’re the award-winning, independent source of NKU news. We cover up-to-date sports, breaking news and campus happenings, plus reporting on larger issues like higher education, sexual harassment, crime, jobs, student health and much more.

This is the training ground for any type of media or communications career. The Northerner has open positions in reporting, feature writing, photo and video, web design, public relations, social media and marketing.

Our alums earn internships and build media careers at outlets around the area, including WCPO, FOX19, The Cincinnati Enquirer, CityBeat, Cincinnati Magazine and more. If you want to get a job in digital media, you can’t afford not to work for The Northerner.

Northerner staff will tell you that this is the most valuable learning experience of their college careers. Take a look at this video to get an idea of why Northerner alums value their time in a real newsroom — right in Griffin Hall.
