Protesters don’t speak for everyone

For the Northern Kentucky University student who participated in the anti-war protest in Downtown Cincinnati on March 20, and held a sign, which stated, "NKU students against war," I would like to know what gives you the right to protest for me and everyone else on campus who does not share your opinion.

From a beautiful quaint town in Switzerland to Downtown Cincinnati comes Music Director Mischa Santora for the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra. Santora has been in Cincinnati for two years now and he is very excited about the upcoming concert series on Northern Kentucky University's campus in Greaves Concert Hall.

We are a people who, when confronted by challenge, always seem to stand up, never stand aside, Northern Kentucky University President Dr. James Votruba said at a campus memorial ceremony on the one year anniverary of Sept. 11. NKU students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members gathered outside the Steely Library to remember the innocent victims of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Pennsylvania attacks.

A September 11 tribute, "The Guys" is currently playing at Ensemble Theater in downtown Cincinnati. The play is a tale of a journalist and a firefighter brought together to write eulogies for unaccounted firemen that died on September 11th.

As you might already know there is a new building on campus, the Natural Science Center, equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and, for coffee lovers, a Starbucks. The $38 million state-of-the-art Natural Science Center has nine classrooms and lecture rooms, 48 instructional research laboratories, four floors and the fifth floor has the mechanical facilities.

The new Director of Campus Recreation is Stephen Tribble in the Albright Health Center at Northern Kentucky University. He was previously the Associate Director of Recreation and Sports at Texas A and M University in Kingsville, Texas.

KY’s 25 cents worth

A quarter commemorating Kentucky's historic background made its debut on Oct. 18. The coin was released as part of the 2001 series issued by the U.S. Mint as part of its 50 State Quarter Program. The program was started by the U.S. Mint in 1999 to commemorate each of the nation's states in the order they joined the union.

One brother against another

The world premiere of "Thy Brother's Keeper" by Ken Jones opened Oct. 25 at Northern Kentucky University's Black Box Theatre. The play is set in the year 1942 in the home of the main character, Scott Bentley, played by Freshman Andrew Bernhard. The action involves Scott remembering an earlier year with his mother, father and fiance.
