NKU volleyball falls 2-3 (22-25, 28-26, 25-20, 18-25, 15-13) against the Oakland Grizzlies on Wednesday just after being ranked 44th on the NCAA Ratings Percentage Index—The highest ranking in school history as well as highest in the Horizon League. The Norse drop to 10-7 overall and 3-2 in the Horizon League. They finished with 69 kills, 117 digs and hit .194%.
The Norse opened up home conference play with a 1-0 loss to the UIC flames. The Norse are now 4-5 on the season and 1-1 in the conference. The Flames advance to 6-3-1 and to 2-0 in the conference.
The Norse hosted three top teams in the top 100 of NCAA Division I volleyball over the weekend. The Norse played no. 1 in the MAC West Division Ball State Friday night then faced no. 4 in the ACC Notre Dame and no. 2 in the AVC University of Cincinnati on Saturday night. The Norse finished the tournament 1-2 bringing their season record to 5-4.
Over the weekend, the Norse traveled to Washington, D.C. to play in the Bulldog Invitational hosted by Georgetown University Hoyas. The Norse faced the American East Conference’s Stony Brook University, who were projected to be the champions of their conference in a preseason poll, the #6 ranked Big East Conference Georgetown University and Marshall University, ranked #8 in Conference USA.
The NKU women’s volleyball team traveled to Dekalb, Illinois for the Holiday Inn Express Invitational over the weekend. The Norse posted back-to-back losses against the University of Virginia and University of Nevada before rallying from a two-set deficit to knock off Northern Illinois University.
NKU women’s volleyball kicked off their 2018 campaign at the University of Notre Dame over the weekend, posting back-to back victories against the University of Toledo and Weber State before falling to Notre Dame in the Golden Dome Invitational.
