In a recording received Tuesday by The Northerner, a female student who remains unidentified can be heard rushing away from Steely Library as she tells the 911 dispatcher that there’s a student in the library with a gun.

Several documents received from NKU confirm that the female student was studying in the library when she was approached by Jaylin Johnson, 23, shown the gun, and then told to move.

The recording continues as the unidentified female student describes the girl with the gun and you can hear police officers in the background rushing to the library.

Reports show that the call was received at 9:45 a.m. and four police officers responded to the library within a minute of the call.

Once officers apprehended Johnson, they transported her back to the NKU Police Station, where she told Detective Bobby Pate that she wanted the seat because she could easily see people approaching, saying that people were after her, but she didn’t know who and that she had contacted the FBI.

The gun Johnson was in possession of was misfeed, indicating that she had attempted to fire the weapon, even though she denied doing so to officers.

Johnson was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, menacing and disorderly conduct.

Johnson’s arraignment was set for Sept. 3, however, after requesting for a mental health evaluation to have the bond lowered, which is currently set at $3,000, and some of the charges dropped, it has been moved to Sept. 17 at 2:30 p.m. at the Campbell County Courthouse.

Johnson also requested to be moved out of the county to a different detention center as she felt that she wasn’t receiving appropriate attention for her mental and physical health. The judge denied this request.
