The Northern Kentucky University’s Men’s Soccer team pulled out an amazing victory over Carson-Newman Sept. 5 at the Town ‘ Country Sports Complex.

The game went into two overtimes and with 8.1 seconds left on the clock, sophomore forward Steven Beattie made a headshot into the goal to make the score 1-0, letting the Norse (3-0) claim victory over their visiting opponents.

Beattie was named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week just this past week for his impressive performance in the game against Charleston (W. Va), where he scored three goals in a 9-0 win.

Beattie was assisted in making the game-winning shot by goalkeeper Michael Lavric. The sophomore threw the ball in to Beattie from the right corner of the field.

The men’s soccer team is ranked No. 3 in the NCAA Division II poll.

NKU’s next game is Sept. 7 where they will take on Findlay at Town ‘ Country Sports Center at 8 p.m. in Wilder.
