UK visit to NKU highlights women’s hoops schedule

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS — A visit by the University Kentucky women’s basketball team to BB&T Arena highlights the Norse’s non-conference schedule, announced Tuesday by the university.

Kentucky will visit NKU Dec. 2. The Wildcats, a powerhouse in the Southeastern Conference, were a two-seed in the NCAA women’s basketball tournament in March. They were upset in the second round by Dayton.

It will be Kentucky’s first trip to Highland Heights since 1981, according to a release on nkunorse.com.

Two regional rivals highlight the first three games for the NKU women. They open the season in Oxford, Ohio against Miami University Nov. 13. Five days later on Nov. 18, the Norse will travel to Fifth Third Arena to take on the University of Cincinnati.

Marquette, out of the Big East, will visit BB&T Arena Nov. 21.

“We are very excited about the non-conference schedule that we have put together,” NKU Head Coach Dawn Plitzuweit said in a release on nkunorse.com. “To be able to host 17 home games is outstanding and the fact that we are bringing a Big East and an SEC powerhouse to BB&T Arena is great for everyone involved.”

Start times for the non-conference games, as well as the Horizon League schedule, will be released at a later date.
