NKU women’s basketball forward Maddie Moody plans to enter the transfer portal, according to a statement on her Instagram.
Moody came to Highland Heights as a freshman from Archbishop Alter High School in Dayton, OH, where she played four historic years.
While at Archbishop Alter, she won a district and GCL title in every season played. She won GCL player of the year, AP Southwest district player of the year and first-team AP all-state.
Moody, in her senior season, averaged 18.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game, while finishing her high school career with school records of 1,638 points and 767 rebounds.
Her time at NKU was short, but mighty. She was a focal point of Head Coach Jeff Hans’ offense from day one. In her second-ever game at the Division I level, she played against 20th-ranked Louisville. She posted up 11 points and three rebounds, shooting 4-7 from the field.
By the end of the season, she averaged 10.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game, leading the squad in rebounds and blocks. She topped the Horizon League in rebounding and finished fifth among all players.
She was great on both sides of the floor for the Norse. She had three double-doubles this season, including a 15-point, 15-rebound performance against IU-Indy, where she helped propel them to the victory. Moody scored in double figures in 18 games this season, scoring a season-high 19 points twice.
Moody was named to the All-Freshman team at the end of the season alongside her teammate Karina Bystry.
Whichever team picks her up in the transfer portal will get a young, six-foot-one forward who is efficient on the floor with great skill around the basket and who can rack up rebounds and blocks.
She leaves the NKU program, entering the portal after a standout freshman season.
