Thursday, Jan. 8
Women’s basketball beat Youngstown State 61-49. Maddie Moody led the way for NKU with 17 points and six rebounds, going 6-10 from the field and 5-5 from the line. Abby Wolterman had a career day, getting her third-career double-double. She finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds, also adding a block and a steal. Karina Bystry finished with nine points, four rebounds and two assists. NKU’s defense was key in the game as they held Youngstown State to just 27.1% from the field and 10.7% from three. While outshooting the Penguins (39.3%) behind solid second and third quarters, and three fourth-quarter threes. The Norse also scored in the paint at will, scoring 38 of its 61 points inside the restricted area.
Friday, Jan. 9
Men’s basketball took down Milwaukee 85-67. Kael Robinson was the star for the Norse with 29 points on nine three-pointers. He also grabbed seven rebounds and had a steal. Donovan Oday came off the bench, going for 21 points on 6-9 shooting, grabbing six rebounds and recording three steals. Tae Dozier stuffed the stat sheet, finishing with 13 points, ten rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block. It marked his first double-double of the season. NKU dominated on the glass, winning the rebound battle 43-29, including 18-10 on the offensive boards. The Norse scored 25 points off those second chances.
Saturday, Jan. 10
Women’s basketball got their fifth-straight win against Robert Morris 81-76. Karina Bystry had an all-around game, going for 24 points, six rebounds and four assists while shooting 13-15 from the line, also hitting three threes. Taysha Rushton knocked down five threes, scoring 19 points, while grabbing two rebounds with a steal. Mya Meredith went for 17 points on 5-11 shooting, also grabbing six rebounds and dishing out a pair of assists with a block and a steal. The Norse outrebounded its opponent for the tenth-straight game, winning the battle on the glass 35-33.
Sunday, Jan. 11
Men’s basketball lost to Green Bay 80-78. Donovan Oday had himself a night, scoring 31 points on 10-15 shooting, 4-6 from three and 7-8 from the line. He also recorded a pair of steals. LJ Wells finished with 13 points and seven rebounds, shooting 4-8 from the floor. Ethan Elliott had 11 points and seven assists, going 3-5 from deep, but 0-6 on two-point attempts. He also had three rebounds and a pair of steals. The Norse dominated the turnover battle, only recording three in the game, while forcing nine from the Phoenix. The Norse were effective in transition, scoring 27 points on the fast break and 13 off turnovers.
