The Norse defeated Ashland University in an exhibition matchup 83-72. They hit the court for the first time this season in the CareSource Invitational. Giving fans an early look at the team before the season officially starts on November 3.
Dan Gherezgher, LJ Wells, Ethan Elliott, Donovan Oday and Kael Robinson were suited up to start the exhibition.
The Norse shot 43.9% from the field and 36.4% from three. Oday and Robinson led the Norse in scoring with 17 each.
Oday had a strong first half performance with three made threes, finishing the game 6-13 from the field and 3-7 from beyond the arc. Robinson went 4-6 from the field, including 2-4 from three and showed his ability to get to the free-throw line, going 7-11 from the charity stripe. Robinson also grabbed five boards.
Tae Dozier was also impressive on offense, going 7-12 from the field and scoring 16 points.
Elliot proved to be a great playmaker leading the Norse with seven assists.
The Norse won the rebound battle 39-32 as LJ Wells dominated the glass, grabbing an impressive 16 rebounds, including eight offensive boards.
The Norse had a hard time controlling the ball, turning it over 17 times, which Ashland converted to score 23 points.
The Norse begin the season Monday, Nov. 3. at home against UC Clermont. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
