Tuesday, Sept. 30
Women’s golf competed in the Butler Invitational, placing 13th. Cammy Reed and Eva Maley led the way for the Norse. Reed finished in 18th while Maley finished in 23rd. Reed started the first round with an eagle on hole 16 and posted three birdies as she finished the round just one over par. A seven-over round two and a five-over round three saw her finish with a total score of +13. Maley posted just four birdies in the tournament, but finished with scores of 74-75-75 on the 70-par course. Ella Hardy finished in 53rd with a +22 total, but finished even par with six birdies in the second round. Conlee Lindsey rounded out the group, posting scores of 79-79-85 in the tournament.
Women’s volleyball took on Wright State, winning in five sets, 3-2. Ava Hoying racked up 22 kills in the match, marking the first time any Norse has eclipsed 20 in a match in the 2025 season. Hoying finished with an attacking line of 22-3-54, hitting .352. She also added nine digs and four total blocks. Ivey Stocks racked up 14 kills on a .355 hitting percentage, tallying four total blocks. Allison Risley totaled 12 kills with nine digs. Abby Pickard racked up 47 assists, eight digs and three aces.
Men’s soccer fell to Bowling Green 2-0. NKU led the shot battle 15-10 and 5-4 on goal but were unable to convert any chances. NKU also won the corner kick battle 6-3. Carlos Merce, Ali Taleb, James Maxwell, Ibrahim Piracha and Bennett Gerak all tallied shots on goal, but weren’t able to get it done on the offensive end.
Friday, Oct. 3
Women’s triathlon won their first-ever event victory in program history in the Millikin Splash & Dash. The Norse were led by 2nd place Alisha Detmer completing the race in 20:38. Finishing 2nd for the Norse and 6th place was Maddux Bigam with a time of 23:16. Finishing in 8th overall was Charlotte Cunningham with a time of 23:49. Just behind her for 9th place was Maggie Wilson finishing in a time of 24:53. Rounding out the top 10 placements was Molly Eide in a time of 25:05. Finishing together for 12th and 13th place were Fallon Bright with a time of 25:19 and Bailey Reeves with a time of 25:20. Warren Lampkowski-Sowle raced the swim only as she was tasked with swim pacing duties.
Women’s volleyball took down Youngstown State 3-0. Allison Risley finished as the Norse points leader with 13.5 total, finishing with 12 kills, one ace, one block and eight digs. Kendall Hopewell had eight kills on a .467 hitting percentage, also recording four blocks. Ivey Stocks put up an attacking line of 9-2-17, also recording one block. Abby Pickard finished with a match-high 34 assists and came one dig shy of a double-double with nine. Lucy Cluxton led NKU in digs with 18, also recording five assists and an ace. Sydney Bray recorded five kills, an ace, three blocks and 12 digs. Ava Hoying finished with seven kills, two aces and one block.
Saturday, Oct. 4
Women’s triathlon competed in the Prairie State Collegiate Cup, finishing 12th. Alisha Detmer raced in the A race at this event, finishing in 36th place with an overall time of 1:10:34, with a 750m swim time of 13:43, 20km bike and 19:38 5k run time. Detmer’s performance set program records for sprint distance overall time, 20km bike split and 5km run split. Maddux Bigam was the second best finisher for the Norse, finishing in 65th place with an overall time of 1:19:4,2 with a swim time of 17:46, bike time of 37:02 and 23:03 run. Fallon Bright finished despite being crashed into by several athletes in her bike group. Bruised and battered, she finished the race in 71st place with a completed time of 1:21:26! She did the swim in 15:41, the bike despite the crash in 38:24 and the run in 28:18. Warren Lampkowski-Sowle finished in 76th place with a time of 1:23:01. She completed the swim in 14:53, the bike in 38:20 and the run in 28:18. Finishing in the final scoring spot for the Norse was Bailey Reeves finishing in 78th place with a completed time of 1:23:23. She completed the swim in 16:02, the bike in 37:10 and the run in 28:51.Finishing in 6th for the Norse and 81st overall with a time of 1:24:29. She completed the swim in 15:32, the bike in 39:49 and the run in 27:53.Final finisher for the Norse and 85th overall with a time of 1:25:46. She completed the swim in 15:58, the bike in 42:19 and the run in 25:57.
Women’s and men’s track and field competed in the Swags Louisville XC Classic, with the men finishing 10th and the women 26th. Women’s side: Maggie Foust paced the Norse women with a time of 18:07.3 in the 5k race, leading all Norse. It marked a new career-best for the freshman in her second race, who ran an 18:16.0 a month prior. Following Foust was sophomore Brittany Arnold, who finished in 18:38.6 and 124th individually. Grace Biddle ran a 19:05.2, finishing 172nd. Macie Radcliffe finished in 19:25.8, finishing 205th, while Carlie Condit ran a 19:29.4, a 212th-place finish. Men’s side: Colton O’Hara finished in 25th place, running a 24:15.2, which marked a new career-best in an 8k race, topping his time of 24:19.5 at last year’s Louisville meet. Natnael Weldemichael nabbed a 38th-place finish, finishing in 24:36.2. Junior Jacob Line ran a 24:45.6, finishing in 51st place. Stetson Childress ran a 24:59.0, good for a 66th place finish.
Women’s soccer won against Robert Morris at home 4-0. Megan Molner opened the scoring with her eighth of the season, off assists from Emilie Doersching and Meghan Belrose. Doersching picked up a second-half goal in the 54th minute, getting the ball off a deflected corner kick for the score. Sophia Kapszukiewicz scored her first of the season on a tremendous header off a free kick from Belrose. Lilly Yordy scored her fifth of the year in the 82nd minute, another beauty from the fifth-year. NKU keeper made two saves in the shutout before being subbed out in the 74th minute. Molner and Doersching led the way for NKU with three shots on goal apiece.
Women’s volleyball falls against Youngstown State in five sets, losing 3-2. The Norse out-hit the Penguins, .274-.263, and hit at least .200 as a team in every set. Abby Pickard posted 65 assists in the match, which marks the second-highest single-match assist total in all of NCAA Division I this season. Additionally, her 65 assists are the most a single match by any Horizon League player since Green Bay’s Emma Johnson had 65 on November 11, 2023, the most by a Northern Kentucky player since Taylor Snider had 68 in on November 18, 2016, and the most by a Horizon League freshman since UIC’s Nicole Johnson had 67 on September 13, 2014. Sydney Bray set a new season-high in kills for any Norse, tallying 23 on the day. Bray also had two blocks and five digs. Allison Risley racked up 20 kills on a .327 hitting percentage. She also had 14 digs in the match. Ava Hoying had 18 kills, 11 digs and three total blocks. Ivey Stocks finished with ten kills and eight block assists. Lucy Cluxton recorded a match-high 27 digs.
Men’s soccer lost against Detroit Mercy 2-1. Detroit opened the scoring in the seventh minute with an early goal. A red card in the 58th minute provided a great opportunity for NKU, as they would play the rest of the match one man up. Steven Boaghe Braniste tied things up late in the second half, converting a penalty kick with just 15 minutes remaining in the match. NKU outshot the Titans 17-14, but were outshot 9-5 on goal. NKU keeper Alex Kron made seven saves in the match. The Norse also won the corner kick battle 5-3.
