The score was tied up at 10-10 apiece in the fifth set. Three straight errors by Wright State forced them to call a timeout, as NKU led 13-10. Out of the break, Allison Risley claimed the Norse’s victory with back-to-back kills.
The Norse had a slow start offensively, hitting a .054 as they dropped the first set 25-18. The Norse rallied back to take the second set in a tight 25-23 contest.
The Raiders’ strong defense gave them the third set, recording six blocks compared to the Norse’s one. In the fourth set, the Norse came out strong with a 12-4 lead. The Raiders narrowed the gap, but couldn’t come out on top as the Norse forced a fifth set.
NKU capitalized on Wright State’s offensive struggle in the fifth set. The Raiders recorded six kills and six attack errors while the Norse hit .238 to take the set in a 15-10 win to give the Norse the 3-2 victory.
Aya Hoying led the team offensively, posting 22 kills to become the first Norse this season to record 20 or more kills in one single match. While Abbigail Pickard recorded 47 assists to help secure the Norse’s win.
On the defensive side, Kendall Hopewell led the Norse with nine total blocks and Lucy Cluxton added 20 digs.
The Norse continue to stay undefeated in Horizon League play at 3-0, improving to 7-7 overall.
