Thursday, Sept.18
Women’s triathlon competed in the Trine Splash & Dash in Angola, Ind., placing third. Alisha Detmer was the first to finish for the Norse with a time of 23:46. Fallon Bright was a couple of minutes behind her with a time of 27:00. Maggie Wilson, Molly Eide and Warren Lampkowski-Sowle all finished within 29 minutes.
Women’s soccer took on their first Horizon League challenge at home, beating Oakland 4-0. Megan Molner opened the scoring for the Norse in the 8th minute. The goal marked Molner’s sixth of the 2025 season. The game opened up for NKU in the second half; Lilly Yordy scored just 90 seconds into the half. It marked Yordy’s fourth of the year, who leads the Horizon League in total points with 15. An own goal in the 63rd minute gave NKU a larger lead. Then, Natalie Newman put the final touches, scoring her second goal of the season in the final minutes. NKU outshot Oakland 14-6 in the match, including 10-2 in the second half. Oakland won the corner battle, 7-5. NKU goalkeeper Megan Gessner picked up another clean sheet with a pair of saves.
Friday, Sept. 19
Women’s volleyball faced off against Miami (OH) in Oxford, winning 3-0. As a team, NKU hit .299 on the night, with four different attackers posting a .350 hitting percentage or higher. The Norse also had eight total blocks in the match. Allison Risley led the Norse offensively, racking up 19 kills with a .405 hitting percentage. Sydney Bray finished with 11 kills, four blocks and 17 digs. Ivey Stocks had ten kills, hitting .400 and had four total blocks. Kendall Hopewell put together an attacking line of 8-2-13 with four total blocks. Abby Pickard set up 48 assists. Lucy Cluxton was the Norse dig leader with 2, also posting seven assists.
Saturday, Sept. 20
Women’s volleyball played their first home game against Miami (OH), losing 3-2. Miami out-hit the Norse overall on the day, .263 to .205. Allison Risley led the Norse with 17 kills, on a .293 hitting percentage. Sydney Bray tallied 14 kills, 12 digs and three blocks. Ivey Stocks also had 14 kills, with four total blocks. Kendall Hopewell had six kills and led the Norse with seven blocks. Abby Pickard led NKU with 47 assists. She also had 15 digs. Lucy Cluxton again led NKU in digs with 24.
Men’s soccer went on the road to face Robert Morris, ending 1-1. Bennett Gerak opened the scoring for NKU in the 17th minute. It marked his first goal of the season. NKU’s Ali Taleb tied up the game with a goal from the penalty spot. The goal was Taleb’s third of the season, and second penalty converted. Norse keeper Alex Kron racked up five saves in the match. NKU was outshot 20-8 in the match. RMU won the corner battle, 6-1.
Sunday, Sept. 21
Men’s golf competed in the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational in Muncie, IN, finishing 13.
Women’s soccer took on IU-Indy in Indianapolis, winning 1-0. Megan Molner scored the lone goal of the match, putting one in from outside the box on an assist from Meghan Belrose. The goal marked the seventh of the season for Molner, whose single-season tally is already the highest for a single Norse player since 2019. The two sides ended even on shot attempts at 14 apiece, but the Norse had the shot on goal advantage, leading 6-3 in the match. Both teams saw four corner kick opportunities in the match. NKU keeper Megan Gessner made three saves in the match in addition to the clean sheet.
