Fifth set in the women’s volleyball against Miami (OH), the game is all tied up at 11. Miami picked up two quick points and had a severe error, pushing the game to 13-12.
NKU served the ball across the net as it bounced around one, two, three, hit. NKU’s outside hitter Allison Risley popped up the ball and passed it to Abby Pickard. She set the ball to Ivey Stocks. Stocks spiked it, the ball went flying, scoring out of bounds, giving Miami the lead 14-12.
After that play Miami would go on to win from an attack error by Lucia Heid, winning the set 15-2 and winning the game 3-2. Moving the women’s record to 4-7 on the season.
On the attack, Risley was the leader as she led the team in kills with 17 on a hitting percentage of .293. Risley picked up the second set win, with a game-tying kill. She also had six digs and an ace.
In the passing game, Pickard led both teams in assists with 47, only recording two errors. The next closest was Miami’s Hayden Hicks with 30.
Lucy Cluxton was solid on defense, posting 24 digs. She also showcased her serving ability as she got six straight points for the Norse off her serve in set four.
What the game came down to was hitting percentage; Miami out-hit the Norse, .263 to .205. Even though NKU led in points, kills, blocks, assists, and digs it wasn’t enough.
