Thursday, Sept. 4
Women’s volleyball took on Western Michigan in the Indiana Invitational, winning 3-1. NKU hit .164 in the match, a season high. After falling in set one, NKU battled back with a win in set two. In set three, the two sides went back and forth early until Western Michigan took the lead. But NKU stormed back to win. Kendall Hopewell had an outstanding final four points in the set, tallying two kills and two blocks to take the set. In set four, NKU took the lead and never looked back. The Norse cruised to a 25-16 victory in set four. Sydney Bray put up a double-double, racking up 15 kills and 14 digs, hitting .195 in the afternoon. Ivey Stocks put up 11 kills and six total blocks with a .417 hitting percentage. Kendall Hopewell tallied ten kills, hitting .500 on the day as she posted a final line of 10-1-18. Abby Pickard racked up 39 assists and 11 digs. Lucy Cluxton led the Norse in digs, posting 21 on the day. Allison Risley put up eight kills and 11 digs, also adding four aces.
Women’s soccer faced off against Ohio on the road, tying 1-1. NKU’s Erykah Cornett scored early for the Norse. She put the ball in the back of the net in the 17th minute off a deflected pass from Meghan Belrose. Despite leading at the half, the Bobcats led in both the shot and corner battle. In the second half, the Norse continued to be aggressive on defense, as Megan Gessner had seven saves in the match. But a goal in the 70th minute by Ohio tied up the game, and NKU wasn’t able to get another one on the board.
Friday, Sept. 5
Women’s volleyball took on Indiana and SEMO in the Indiana Invitational, dropping both games. 3-0 loss to Indiana: The Norse hit a season-high .189 in the match, but Indiana’s firepower and uber-efficient .396 hitting percentage proved to be too much for the Norse. The Norse kept it competitive throughout all their sets but couldn’t get the lead on The Hoosiers. Ava Hoying and Sydney Bray tied for the team lead in kills, as both posted eight. Bray also posted 10 assists and three aces. Lainey Green led NKU in assists with eleven. Lucy Cluxton led the way on defense with three digs.
3-2 loss to SMEO NKU took the first set with a 16 kill set and a great hitting percentage, but SEMO answered right back, winning set two. In the third set, it was another tight one as NKU would pull away with it. SEMO went on to win the next two sets in a battle, winning the game. Sydney Bray led the Norse in kills with 19. She hit .273 in the match with 13 digs, two aces and five blocks. Ivey Stocks followed that up with a 14-kill, seven-block performance. Stocks hit .500 in the match. Kendall Hopewell put in another solid performance, finishing with 11 kills, four blocks and two aces, while hitting .280. Abby Pickard led the Norse in assists with 52. She also recorded 11 digs in the match. Allison Risley put up a double-double, going for 16 digs and 11 kills. Lucy Cluxton led NKU in digs with 29, also recording five assists.
Men’s and women’s cross country competed in the Baumer XC Classic, with the women placing third and the men placing seventh.
Women’s side: Maggie Foust finished in 11th place, a great mark as Friday marked her first-ever collegiate competition. Foust finished in 18:16 flat. Brittany Arnold finished just behind Foust in 12th, running an 18:16.Grace Biddle had a solid first race of the 2025 campaign, finishing in 18:27.8. Macie Radcliffe (37th, 19:15.2), Kaitlyn Strange (38th, 19:15.2), and Carlie Condit (41st, 19:16.5) rounded out the group of top-50 finishers for NKU.
Men’s side: Natnael Weldemichael (15:02.3) and Colton O’Hara (15:02.7) paced the men’s group with 17th and 18th finishes, respectively. Jacob Line (15:20.8) was NKU’s only other top-50 finisher, notching 33rd.
Saturday, Sept. 6
Men’s soccer played against Belmont, drawing level,1-1. Silas Borgman scored the lone goal for the Norse, slotting one in from the penalty spot with three minutes left in the first half. It marked the first goal of Borgman’s career at NKU. Belmont would respond in the second half, scoring a goal. NKU won the shot battle 15-6 (7-2 on goal), and the corner battle 8-2.
Sunday, Sept. 7
Women’s soccer faced off against Cincinnati, also ending in a tie. Megan Molner netted her fifth goal of the season in the 31st minute, scoring a rocket from way outside the box. Cincinnati came back in the 69th minute, despite some great defense from the Norse throughout the match. Norse keeper Megan Gessner made an effort to stop the Bearcats, tallying six saves in the match. Cincinnati won the shot battle 22-6 (7-4 on goal), and the corner battle 14-4.

- Men’s soccer will take on in-state foe Bellarmine on the road at 7 P.M.
Thursday, Sept. 11
- Women’s soccer will make their way down to Eastern Kentucky to face off against the Colonels at 4 P.M.
Friday, Sept. 12
- Men’s golf will compete in the Oakland’s Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate in Rochester, MI.
- Women’s volleyball will take on UTRGV in the Geri Polvino Invitational in Richmond Ky. at 10 A.M.
Saturday, Sept. 13
- Men’s golf will compete in the Oakland’s Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate in Rochester, MI.
- Women’s volleyball will take on Akron at 10 A.M. and Eastern Kentucky at 7 P.M. in the Geri Polvino Invitational in Richmond Ky.
- Men’s soccer will take on their first Horizon League match against Green Bay at home at 7 P.M.
Sunday, Sept. 14
- Men’s golf will compete in the Oakland’s Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate in Rochester, MI.
- Men’s Triathlon will compete in the RedHawks Sprint Triathlon in Oxford, OH. At 7:45 A.M.
