Late in the 58th minute of NKU’s men’s soccer game against Belmont, it was all tied up at one. NKU cleared the ball out of bounds, as the ball was hitting the ground, Norse defender Joshua Cline and Belmont’s Jimiyu Mark got into a confrontation.
Mark swung at Cline, hitting him right in the face. As Cline hit the ground, the referee would get in between them, showing Mark a red card and sending him off the pitch.
Belmont was then down a man for the final 31 minutes, but the Norse couldn’t capitalize on the situation, as the match ended in a one-all draw, moving NKU’s record to 2-1-1.

Jason Purks was the leader for the Norse, he got in the way on offense, having five shots with four being on goal. He had a chance to take the lead in the 87th minute as he kicked a curve ball aimed for the bottom right of the net, but Belmont’s keeper Grant Calvert made a split second decision to save it.
Winger Silas Borgman scored the lone goal for the Norse that was set up by Steven Braniste, drawing a foul in the box, giving NKU a chance from the penalty spot. Borgman stepped up and slotted one into the back of the net, marking the first goal of his career at NKU.
Belmont would get its chance on goal as well, eight minutes into the second half. Norse keeper Alex Kron was caught off his line and the Bruin striker was able to capitalize.
After that play, tensions were high, a massive scrummage emerged resulting in a yellow card on both sides. But no team wanted to back down.
With little pushes and bumps here and there, both teams’ defenses were getting riled up. But the Norse kept composed throughout, only letting the Bruins take six shots, two on goal.
The Norse had multiple opportunities to score, having seven shots on goal, but they couldn’t find the back of the net.
