Watching the Norse: Athletics recap and review

Women’s soccer ends in a draw against Mercyhurst 1-1. Junior Megan Molner was the first to put it in the back of the net for the Norse off a pass from Riley Evans.

Thursday, Aug. 14

Women’s soccer opened its season in a tie against Mercyhurst, 1-1. Megan Molner scored the first goal of the 2025 season in the 34th minute. Riley Evans facilitated the play with a great ahead pass for the assist. It was Molner’s third career goal and first since 2023, while Evans’ assist was a career first. The Norse outshot Mercyhurst 15-12 (having 10 shots on goal), as Kylie Anderson and Molner both recorded a pair of shots on goal in the match. They also won the corner battle, 6-4, and Norse keeper Megan Gessner recorded five saves.

  • Women’s soccer plays their first game of the 2025 season at home against Austin Peay at 4 P.M.
  • Men’s soccer plays their first game of the season at home against Union Commonwealth (Ky.) at 7 P.M.

Saturday, Aug. 23

  • Women’s volleyball takes on Xavier in an exhibition match in Cincinnati at 3 P.M.

Sunday, Aug. 24

  • Men’s soccer goes on the road to face off against Akron in Akron, OH, at 7 P.M.
  • Women’s soccer faces off against Mount St. Joseph at home at 7 P.M.
