Tuesday, May 13
Baseball lost to in-state foe, the University of Kentucky, 6-1. Noah Sackenheim took the ball for NKU, throwing two innings and striking out three while allowing just one run on a solo homer. Sackenheim was credited with the loss. Jake Johnson, Logan Wilson and Aaron Massie each threw scoreless innings in the loss. To the bats: Tyler Shaneyfelt provided the lone two-hit performance, finishing 2-5. Logen Devenport had an RBI single in the loss. Brennan Rowe drew a pair of walks and had a hit. The Norse kept it close until the end, where the Wildcats exploded for the win.
Thursday, May 15
Baseball went up against Youngstown State, winning 14-8. Conner Linn got the start for the Norse and pitched to a no decision, striking out one over 1.1 innings. Kaden Echeman came in for him in relief, picking up the win after striking out seven batters over 4.2 innings. Logan Wilson was stellar in the final three innings, allowing just one baserunner while striking out three to pick up the save. To the Offense: Shaneyfelt shined, as he finished 4-6 with a home run, three RBI, two stolen bases and four runs scored. Out of the gate, in the first inning, Shaneyfelt started with a home run, then from there, the game came easily to him. Gabe Miranda homered as well, finishing 2-4 with a pair of RBI and two runs scored.
Friday, May 16
Baseball won once again against Youngstown State, 12-4. Aaron Boster got the start for NKU, striking out five batters in 4.1 innings. Shawn Parnell got the win after 2.2 innings, where he struck out five batters and allowed just one baserunner. Massie closed out the game with two perfect innings. To the bats: NKU did not have an extra-base hit in the game, notching 12 runs on 13 singles and seven walks. The Norse had only six RBIs as a team, taking advantage of seven YSU errors. Shaneyfelt finished 1-3 with a pair of stolen bases and three walks. Marcus Harrison finished 2-4. Gabe Miranda went 2-4 with an RBI.
Saturday, May 17
Baseball won huge against Youngstown State 23-4, ending in seven innings. Evan Fry opened the game for the Norse and picked up the win, throwing three innings and striking out five while allowing only two runs. From there, Gerald Hanson, Jake Johnson, Noah Sackenheim, Bobby Bartlett, Connor Kurki and Ryan Pehrson held YSU to just two runs on three hits while combining for six strikeouts to secure the win. To the Offense: Tyler Shaneyfelt dominated in his final outing. He finished 4-4 while reaching base six times. Shaneyfelt had an RBI, scored three times and stole three bases in the win. Gabe Miranda finished 205 with a pair of RBI. Braydon Rogers homered as part of a 2-6, four RBI day.
