Wednesday, May 7
Softball lost against Purdue Fort Wayne in the Horizon League Championship 3-1. Northern Kentucky recorded five hits and a walk. Campbell Beatty, Stella Wulker, Trinity Robertson and Brielle DiMemmo all went 1-3 with singles. Brooke Keltner went 1-1 with a pinch-hit single. Emma Ginn reached base after being hit by a pitch twice and scored NKU’s only run of the game. Brooklyn Ballis threw all six innings for NKU, allowing three runs, eight hits and no walks, striking out four batters.
Softball also lost their second game to IU-Indy in the Horizon League Championship 6-0, ending their season. NKU recorded a pair of hits and walked three times. Emma Ginn and Mack Brow both went 1-3 with singles. Marley Gearld went 0-1 with a pair of walks. Alicia Flores threw 3.2 innings, allowing eight hits, six runs and three walks. Brooklyn Ballis relieved Flores in the fourth and threw 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk. NKU’s zero runs on the day were a first in all of conference play and the first time the Norse put up zero since March 9.
Friday, May 9
Baseball faced off against Wright State, losing 7-1. Conner Linn got the start for NKU, taking the loss after allowing six runs on six hits and a pair of walks. Linn struck out five. Noah Sackenheim allowed just a run on three hits in a pair of innings. Jake Johnson threw two scoreless innings with a strikeout. To the bats: Brennan Rowe provided the lone run-scoring hit with a solo homer in the eighth. Tyler Shaneyfelt finished 1-4. Jake Altman doubled in the loss. Jake Paulick drew a pair of walks.
Saturday, May 10
Baseball beat Wright State 6-4 in Dayton, OH. Aaron Boster started for the Norse, throwing four innings of three-run ball. Through his first three innings, Boster had allowed just two hits and no runs. He finished the day with five hits, two walks, three earned runs and four strikeouts. Kaden Echeman relieved Boster in the fifth and had one of his best outings of the year, shutting down the league’s top scoring offense with nine strikeouts, tied for his second-highest mark in a single game in 2025. Echeman allowed just two hits, one run and one walk in the game. To the offense: Northern Kentucky recorded eight hits and eight walks in the afternoon. Gabe Miranda finished 2-3 with a pair of walks. Nolan Sparks went 1-3 with two RBI, two walks and a run scored. Sam Bond finished 2-4 with a run scored and a walk. Jake Altman batted in two runs with a single, finishing 1-3 with a walk.
Sunday, May 11
Men’s and women’s track and field compete in the Horizon League Outdoor Championships, coming home with fifth and sixth place, and Cameron Bitterman making history.
Women’s side: Cameron Bitterman was outstanding on the final day, winning both of her individual competitions. Her 400m time of 54.64 broke the Norse program record, as a terrific final leg of the race saw her push forward to take the title. In the 200m, Bitterman ran a 23.95, finishing two tenths of a second above second place. Sierra Kendall finished second in the 400m hurdles, finishing over a second and a half above third place with a time of 1:00.09, breaking the Norse school record. Olivia Kennedy broke an outdoor school record in the 800m run, finishing in 2:09.54, just a half second off of first place. Julia Pohl took home second place in the high jump, topping a best mark of 1.72 meters. NKU’s 4x400m team of Bittermann, Kennedy, Kendall and Joi Bradley finished in fourth with a time of 3:48.08, a season-best.
Men’s side: Natnael Weldemichael notched a second-place finish in the 5k, running a 14:35.37. Colton O’Hara also placed for the Norse in the race, running a 4:48.30 and finishing seventh. The Norse 4x400m relay squad of Branton Koroly, Brayden Holland, Elijah Harrison and Aaron Silva finished in fourth with a time of 3:18.75, smashing NKU’s program record by five seconds. NKU’s 4x100m relay team of Aaron Silva, Harrison, Josh Brockman and Brayden Holland finished in fourth as well, running a 43.57 and breaking a program record. In the 400m race, Koroly and Harrison finished in seventh and eighth, respectively. Jacob Line finished in seventh place in the 1500m run with a time of 3:52.60.
Baseball lost to Wright State 4-1. Evan Fry got the start for NKU. Fry threw 2.2 innings, allowing just one earned run on three hits and three walks. Fry notched a strikeout in a no decision. Shawn Parnell came in for Fry, throwing 2.1 innings of scoreless relief with a pair of strikeouts. Gerald Hanson took the loss, allowing a pair of earned runs on two hits. Hanson struck out two. To the bats: Nolan Sparks and Josh Williams each finished 2-4 with a pair of singles. Williams’ first inning RBI single provided the lone Norse run. Sparks stole a base in addition to his two hits. Brennan Rowe and Jake Altman each finished 1-3.
