NKU men’s soccer beat the University of Kentucky 3-0 in an exhibition game at the NKU soccer stadium Sunday night.

The Norse have defeated the Wildcats two years in a row. The match improved their all time record against the Cats to 2-0-3.

The Norse took a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute, when junior forward Kobie Qualah dribbled the ball into the box and scored against the UK defense. Junior midfielder Campbell Morris followed up in the 40th minute with a goal of his own, putting the game away before the halftime whistle.

Johannes Jansen capped the game off in 72nd minute, putting a penalty kick in the back of the net to score the third and final goal for the Norse.

Christian Carey started the game at goalkeeper, making one save in the first half. Freshman Jared Leyland replaced Carey in the second half and kept the shut out going, making two saves in his 45 minutes of action.

The Norse will begin the regular season on Friday, when they face Eastern Illinois at 7 p.m. at the NKU Soccer Stadium.
