GALLERY: Milwaukee frustrates, defeats Norse

The NKU women’s basketball team couldn’t find its offensive rhythm Saturday in an 86-60 loss to Milwaukee at BB&T Arena.

The Norse fall to 10-8 overall, 2-5 in the Horizon League. Milwaukee won its fifth straight Horizon League game to improve to 11-7 overall and 5-2 in the league.

NKU struggled from the floor all night. An 0 for 15 slump in the first half that lasted more than a full quarter put the Norse in a big first half hole. NKU trailed 43-30 at halftime.

It didn’t get better in the third quarter. After a layup by Christine Roush to start the half, Milwaukee answered with a 15-3 run to take a 58-35 lead with 5:56 left in third.

For the game, NKU shot just 28.6 percent from the floor. Kelley Wiegman led the Norse with 12 points. Christine Roush added 10 points and 5 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Milwaukee shots 55.6 percent from the floor, including 60 percent in the second half.

Steph Kostowicz led the Panthers with 23 points and 8 rebounds. Siera Ford-Washington added 21 points and 5 rebounds. Alexis Lindstrom scored 19 points.

NKU now embarks on a four-game Horizon League road trip. It begins 7 p.m. Thursday at Cleveland State.
