NKU head coach Dawn Plitzuweit and her NKU Norse are 6-2 following a win Saturday against IPFW.

Sarah Kinch scored a career-high 19 points Saturday night as the NKU women’s basketball team easily dispatched Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne 77-64.

A 13-2 run in the first quarter followed by a 10-2 run in the second quarter put the game away early for NKU (6-2).

NKU led 22-13 after one quarter and 41-26 at halftime. The Norse led by as many as 25 with 1:57 left in the third quarter.

The Norse held IPFW to just 34 percent from the floor (19/56). Meanwhile, NKU shot 46 percent from the floor (27/59).

NKU also dominated inside, outscoring IPFW 34-18 in the paint. Thanks in part to Kinch’s 19 points, NKU’s bench outscored IPFW 42-14.

In addition to Kinch’s 19, Shar’Rae Davis had a double-double. She scored 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Christine Roush had 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.

Josie Fisher led IPFW with 19 points.

The women return to action 4:30 p.m. Sunday as part of a women’s and men’s doubleheader. The women play West Virginia State while the men will host Norfolk State in the nightcap at 7 p.m.
