MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — The men’s basketball team opened the season with a tall task ahead of it – a road trip to West Virginia to take on Bob Huggins’ Mountaineers.

West Virginia proved to be too strong for the Norse, defeating NKU 107-61.

Tyler White led NKU with 17 points. Lavone Holland II added 11 points.

The Mountaineers came out firing in the first half, outscoring NKU 62-32 in the first 20 minutes. WVU never trailed in the contest.

Jevon Carter was one of four Mountaineers in double figures in scoring with 24 points. He also had 6 assists and 5 steals. Daxter Miles, Jr. had 19 points, while Devin Williams added 18.

NKU returns to action 7 p.m. Tuesday for its home opener against Tiffin.
