Volleyball on a roll, sweep weekend Horizon League matches

Haley Libs was the 2015 Horizon League Freshman of the Year

The volleyball team picked up a pair of Horizon League victories this weekend.

Saturday, the volleyball team picked up a thrilling five-set victory at Valparaiso. NKU won 20-25, 25-17, 25-21, 20-25 and 15-13.

Keyaira Lankheit had a huge match, picking up 16 blocks and 11 kills. Haley Libs led the Norse with 14 kills and 12 digs. Keely Creamer added 13 kills.

Mel Stewart picked up 29 digs. Taylor Snyder had 20 digs to go with 41 assists. Lauren Hurley had 18 digs. Jayden Julian added 13 digs.

Friday, the Norse defeated Illinois-Chicago 24-26, 25-23, 25-20, 25-23.

Libs had a monster match, picking up 25 kills and 10 digs. Creamer had 11 kills. Turner added 10 kills. Stewart had 28 digs.

Snyder had another double-double with 56 assists and 11 digs. Hurley also had double figures in digs with 14.

With the wins, NKU improves to 5-5 in the Horizon League and 10-12 overall. The Norse return home 7 p.m. Tuesday to take on Wright State. The match will be broadcast on ESPN3.
