Volleyball wins second straight with five-set victory over Cleveland State

So far, a return to Regents Hall has treated the NKU women’s volleyball team well.

After a three-game road trip, the Norse have returned home and won two straight, including Tuesday’s five-set win over Cleveland State.

NKU defeated Cleveland State 17-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-16, 15-13.

Keely Creamer led NKU with 17 kills. Haley Libs and Keyaira Lankheit each had 13 kills. Taylor Snyder had 57 assists and 10 digs for a double-double.

Mel Stewart, named Horizon League defensive player of the week, had 26 digs to lead the Norse.

NKU finished the match with a .243 hitting percentage, compared to a .196 for Cleveland State. The Norse had nine more kills, 68-59.

Friday night in the opener of the homestand, NKU blasted Youngstown State 25-19, 25-22 and 25-15.

Creamer and Jayden Julian each had 12 kills to lead the Norse. Libs and Kelly Turner each had 10 kills. Snyder had 41 assists and nine digs. Stewart had 27 digs while Libs had 10.

The volleyball team wraps up its three-game homestand Friday when it hosts Oakland. The match starts at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast by ESPN3.
