NKU forward Jessica Frey and the Norse will look to beat UC in the inaugural Riverboat Rivalry.

VALPARAISO, Ind. – The NKU women’s soccer team got a goal in the 101st minute Friday to defeat Valparaiso, 3-2.

Kelsey Laumann headed home a cross from Macy Hamblin to keep the Norse unbeaten in Horizon League play at 4-0-0. NKU is 8-3-0 overall.

Things didn’t look good for the Norse early.

April Cronin scored just 68 seconds after the kickoff to give Valpo (4-5-3, 2-2-1) a 1-0 lead.

The Norse rallied for the next two goals to take the lead. Hanna Pateryn scored in the 59th minute to level the match.

Just 71 seconds later, it was 2-1 Norse after Jessica Frey scored her fifth of the season.

Valpo would equalize in the 65th minute on a Morgan Manzke goal. It remained tied at 2 until Laumann’s heroics in the 101st minute.

Valpo outshot NKU 15-12. Brooke Schocker made five saves to pick up the victory for NKU.

NKU will look to remain unbeaten in Horizon League play at home Wednesday when they host Wright State. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. at NKU Soccer Stadium, and it will be televised on ESPN3.
