NKU soccer player Yaw Addai scored the game-tying goal Wednesday in NKU’s 2-1 victory over Eastern Illinois.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Two second half goals by Yaw Addai were enough Sunday to lead the men’s soccer team to a 2-0 win over IPFW.

Addai broke a scoreless tie in the 74th minute when he received a pass across the box from Diego Martinez. Addai beat the keeper on the right post for the game’s first goal.

Just 15 minutes later, Addai would make it 2-0 Norse. In the 89th minute, Addai earned a breakaway thanks to a deflection. He scored just before full time to close the scoring and secure the victory.

AJ Fleak picked up his third shutout of the season and 13th of his career.

IPFW (3-3-0) outshot NKU 21-12, however, the Mastodons managed just five shots on goal out of 21 taken. NKU was much more efficient, placing eight of its 12 shots on frame.

NKU (3-2-0) played a very physical game, as the Norse were whistled for 20 fouls to just eight for IPFW.

The Norse return to action 7 p.m. Friday at Dayton. They will open Horizon League play for the first time September 22 at Wright State. After another road league game at Detroit on September 25, the Norse play its first league home game 7 p.m. September 30 against Belmont.
