The Northern Kentucky University Baseball team improved to one game below .500 and reminded Quincy University who the Great Lakes Valley Conference’s reigning champ was, claiming three of four games against the Hawks in a two-day series Feb. 28-March 1.
The Norse swept Quincy in the first day of doubleheader action ‘- winning both contests by a score of 3-2 ‘- and opened the second day of contests with a convincing 14-4 route of Quincy. However, the Hawks avoided NKU’s bid for a series sweep, defeating the Norse 9-6 in the final game of the series.
Senior right fielder Jack Ambrose led the Norse offensive, tabbing a .462 batting average in the four-game series. Ambrose belted out six hits, batted in four runs and scored four times, and received GLVC Player of the Week honors for his efforts.
Next, the Norse will host Tiffin University for a doubleheader on March 6, with the first games opening pitch scheduled for noon.
