Northern Kentucky University is mourning the loss of student-athlete Jordan Archie, a junior sprinter on the women’s track and field team, who died on Dec. 4 following a battle with cancer.
President Cady Short-Thompson announced the news in a campus-wide email on Tuesday.
Archie, a native of Pickerington, Ohio, and a graduate of Pickerington Central High School, was majoring in respiratory therapy.
“All of us on campus feel this tragic loss,” Short-Thompson wrote in the announcement.
Head Track and Field Coach Paul Longano described Archie as a “fantastic young woman” known for her welcoming personality.
“His best memories of her are the way she interacted with others, always trying to engage with those around her to better know them,” the email stated.
Longano added that Archie’s choice to study respiratory therapy reflected her “caring nature and desire to help others.”
Friends and family remembered Archie as a generous individual who made others feel “seen, supported, and loved.”
