Northern Kentucky University Police issued a Timely Warning on Friday after receiving two reports of stalking and fondling that occurred on campus earlier that day, according to an email sent to the university community.
The email, sent out Nov. 7, stated that the victims reported repeated unwanted contact and physical touching without consent. University Police said the suspect has been identified and that the investigation remains ongoing.
In a follow-up statement to The Northerner, NKU Police Chief John Gaffin confirmed that police are “actively investigating the matter” and that “because this remains an active investigation and involves sensitive circumstances,” no further details could be released at this time.
“Northern Kentucky University Police received reports of stalking and fondling. In accordance with federal Clery Act requirements, we issued a timely warning to keep our campus community informed,” Gaffin said. “The university takes all reports of concerning behavior seriously and remains committed to the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff.”
The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, commonly known as the Clery Act, requires colleges and universities to issue timely warnings to alert their campus communities of certain reported crimes that may pose a continuing threat to safety.
