Half-price tickets to April 27 Reds game available
Northern Kentucky University and the Cincinnati Reds announced this season’s NKU Night, which will take place at 7:10 p.m. at the Great American Ballpark on April 27. All NKU students, faculty, staff and alumni can purchase non-premium seat tickets for the game at half price. In honor of NKU Night, President James Votruba will throw the ceremonial first pitch, and Victor E. Viking will also be around for entertainment and pre-game activities. To receive the half-price discount, tickets must be purchased by April 26. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.reds.com/nku. Third NKU presidential candidate announced
Northern Kentucky University revealed the third and final candidate in the running for the university’s next president. Geoffrey Mearns, the current provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Cleveland State University, will visit NKU’s campus to meet with students, faculty and staff and the community April 9 and 10.
Chase alum recognized for community law service
A Salmon P. Chase College of Law graduate was named the 2012 Janet Clemmons Community Service Award winner for his work on the Volunteer Lawyers Project. Stephen Bernat for his service to the Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Legal Aid Society of Southwest Ohio. The project, which provides legal assistance to low-income citizens, includes family law issues. The VLP refers cases across the spectrum of civil legal matters, including housing, estate, consumer and immigration-related problems.
Showcase event planned for local web, mobile startups
The Northern Kentucky University Entrepreneurship Institute and Mindbox Studios will host the third annual Continuous Web Startup Showcase April 14 in Griffin Hall. This free event is open to the public and will feature regional web and mobile startups, networking, breakout sessions and keynote speakers. 10-15 startups will be able to present their ideas to attendees and be judged on the novelty of their idea, business model, presentation and team.
