LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is locked in a close race Tuesday with Democratic businessman Bruce Lunsford in Kentucky’s Senate race. With 13 percent of precincts reporting, McConnell had 120,595 votes or 51 percent, compared with 119,327 votes or 49 percent for Lunsford. Through the campaign McConnell urged voters to stick with his seniority, saying his stature as the Senate’s top-ranking Republican is a valuable asset for Kentucky. McConnell said he has delivered hundreds of millions in federal support to Kentucky. Lunsford has called for a new course in a time of economic turbulence.
