Winning streak at 12 for volleyball
Northern Kentucky University’s Volleyball team (21-3) has been hard at work this past week, defeating opponents Rockhurst (12-8), Drury (9-11) and and Bellarmine (6-10).
Rockhurst was defeated in four sets, with the scores 22-25, 25-15, 25-21, and 25-22. Senior right-side hitter Kelsey Wesaw ended up having 17 kills, while freshman outside hitter Noelle Peterson and senior right-side hitter Kristina Eisenmenger both had 11 each. Sophomore middle hitter Kim Nemcek had 17 digs and senior setter Natalie Forbes assisted with 46 sets.
Forbes wound up having 51 assists in the game against Drury to help the Norse defeat them in four sets. 18-25, 25-23, 25-20 and 25-20 ended up being the final scores. Nemcek had 15 kills and 11 digs while Eisenmenger had 14 kills. Sophomore outside hitter and libro Chelsea Clark also had 15 digs in that game.
NKU ended up defeating Bellarmine in three sets of 25-14, 25-14 and 25-19. Wesaw once again had 14 kills while Eisenmenger had 11 and Nemcek had eight. Forbes had 37 assists along with eight digs.
The Norse will play Northen Michigan at 2:30 p.m. Oct.17 and Grand Valley State at 5:30 p.m. in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Crossover in Indianapolis, Ind.
Beattie named GLVC Player of the Week
Sophomore forward Steven Beattie was named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week Oct. 13.
Beattie scored three goals in the two weekend games leading the Norse to victories over Missouri-St. Louis and Southern Indiana.
