The good, the bad, and the weird

The good Alexandria, Ky., is employing removable “speed calming devices” on Constable Drive to get people to slow down, the Community Press reported April 4. The bumps, which at their height are three inches off the ground, can be picked up and moved for snow plows.

The bad USA Today reported April 6 that 219 women and children were kept at a polygamist compound in Eldorado, Texas. Police said that a 16-year-old girl informed them of the estate, which they raided April 4.

The weird Police in Houston say that officers called to the Mercer Arboretum found a 19-year-old brandishing a gun and minus his ankle bracelet. Then, police say that he ran, firing back at officers and climbing the fence into the Arboretum. Next, officers say that he robbed a father and his kids before carjacking a pregnant woman. Police pursued him, and when they finally pulled him over, he wasn’t wearing any clothes.
