The Good

Northern Kentucky University may receive budget increases of nearly 10 percent for each of the next two years, according to cincinnati.com. This would be the biggest percentage increase among the state’s public universities, adding up to $60.9 million in 2008-09 and $66.8 million in 2009-10.

The Bad

A Hamilton, Ohio, man was convicted of murder for beating his 80-year-old grandfather so severely that he later died of head injuries, cincinnati.com reported Nov. 10. The grandfather had taken care of more than 32 foster children during his lifetime.

The Weird

According to theolympian.com, Seattle-based Jones Soda Co. said it’s shelving traditional seasonal flavors such as turkey and gravy, sugar plum and egg nog for Christmas and jelly doughnut, apple sauce and chocolate coins for Hanukkah to produce limited edition theme packs.
