College of Business: Dean Michael Carrell is the director of the newly formed Alternative Dispute Resolution Center. The center is in the first few months of operation and has signed contracts with organizations within Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. Carrell said the center was started to find ways to get more involved in the community.
College of Arts and Sciences: Biology — Student Chris Miller’s presentation earned him first prize for the undergraduate research oral presentation competition at this year’s Kentucky Academy of Science meeting.
College of Nursing and Health Professions: The Nursing Honor Society of Northern Kentucky University won two awards at International Awards for Nursing Excellence; one being the Research Advancement Award, which congratulates the chapter for significant research-related activities.
Chase College of Law: Northern Kentucky University Chase Law students were featured in a CityBeat article Nov. 7. The students are using what they learn in the classroom in real cases through the Second Chance Community Legal Clinic, which offers inmates free legal assistance.
College of Informatics: Information technology — Two teams of programming students participated in the 2007 Association for Computing Machinery Mid-Central USA Programming Contest at the University of Kentucky. The NKU Informatics team, comprising John Miller, Amber Rogers and Christian Rice took third place out of 18 teams. Norse members Robert Jeffers, Scott Foran and Nicolas Cooper came in 13th place.
