James Geyer/ContributorThe Buddhist monks wrapped up their visit to Northern Kentucky University with what they refer to as a dismantling ceremony. The sand mandala that they spent Nov. 7 through 9 creating was destroyed and put into a vase. The monks packaged some of the sand for those watching to take home with them. They performed a number of traditional Tibetan dances at this ceremony. At the end of the ceremony the sand was poured into Loch Norse. It is said that in doing this the surroundings are purified.
