The Northern Kentucky University’s Men’s Soccer Team captured the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Championship Nov. 4 for the first time ever. The Norse defeated the two-time defending champion Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville 3-2 when freshman Braden Bishop kicked a rebound shot 2:42 into overtime.
Not only was this the first Regional title the men’s soccer has won, but it was the first time since 1998 that it defeated SIUE.
NKU has been picked as the host for an NCAA Division II men’s soccer national quarterfinal game, and it will play Lincoln Memorial University.
NKU is ranked No. 14 with a record of 16-2-3 and LMU is ranked No. 16 with a record of 14-1-3.
The game will be held Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. at the Town ‘ Country Sports Complex in Wilder, Ky.
The winner of the Nov. 12 game will advance to the NCAA Division II Final Four, which will be held Nov. 16-18 at Pensacola, Fla.
