I want to applaud Joe Mills for his initiative regarding smoking in public on campus. While those who smoke are in their own right, those who choose not to smoke certainly have the right not to be bombarded with cigarette fumes in trying to get to class; in particular, students with health issues such as asthma or students who are pregnant should be assured the possibility of moving about campus without encountering cigarette smoke. I hope Mr. Mills’ request is well received by the president’s office.
