The Kwanzaa Celebration (a couple questions)

I have a couple questions regarding the Celebration of Kwanzaa story from the December 10th issue. First off would the faculty, staff, and students of NKU be able to come together in the Otto M. Budig theater to celebrate and honor the Christian holiday of Christmas? Secondly I would be very happy if someone could elaborate on the terms of “collective work” (Ujima) and “cooperative economics” (Ujamaa), which are two pillars of Kwanzaa. Perhaps I’m simply an old crumudgeon, or wrong in my assumption, but when I hear those terms I think of state run economic systems like those in former communist and heavily socialized states. Please tell me that Kwanzaa is not a flunkie for such failed economic ideologies.
