Welcome to week number two. But, that’s enough of that. I know you all want to jump directly into Soul Calibur 2, so here we go.

First of, I want to say that I am not a real big fan of the fighting games, but the SC series is one that I really enjoy playing. I enjoyed going to the Tilt and playing the arcade version and I enjoy the console version even more. I have played the Playstation 2 and GameCube versions of the game, I still don’t have an X Box, and they are so similar that I am going to talk about them both using the same words.

The graphics for this game are awesome. The game flows very fluidly, and doesn’t slow down in the least. Namco did a great job on this.

The fighting is also amazing. The speed of the game is faster than most of it’s kind. It takes a little adjusting to but is pretty easy to get the hang of.

Now on to my favorite mode of the game, the Weapons Master mode. This, in a sense, is a RPG type adventure. In this you have to fight through various chapters in search of the Soul Edge, the most powerful weapon in the game. You gain experience in order to reach different fighter status. You also receive gold, which helps you to buy new weapons, outfits and different things that are in the game.

Each game has it’s own special character, exclusive to the console it is on. GC has Link from Zelda fame, X Box has Spawn and PS2 has Heiachi from the Tekken series. This is the only complaint I have about the PS2 version. I think they could have chosen a better character than Heiachi. Namco should have done a cross promotion with Activision and got Rikimaru or Ayame from Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven. Now there are some cool characters.

Soul Calibur 2 is overall great game, and well worth the price of purchase. If you are looking for a fun game to play, or are new to the fighting genre, then you should defiantly give SC 2 a look. I highly recommend it.
