Viewers of Channel 18 are used to seeing broadcasts created by Northern Kentucky University students along with satellite-fed educational programs. On Wednesday morning, however, viewers got a different kind of education than they were looking for when a soft-core pornography movie came up on the screen.
William Farro, a coordinator in the NKU Information Technology department, said the reasons why the movie scenes were playing on Channel 18 are still unknown, but that satellite signals getting mixed could be the cause.
“The way things are set up, it’s kind of likely that’s what happened,” Farro said. “We’re still trying to figure it out.”
In the meantime, satellite programs have been replaced by other types of programs to isolate the problem, Farro said. “That’s all we can really do right now,” he said.
