What would you do for $500? Eight local bands will battle it out at Northern Kentucky University on Thursday, March 20. The winner will walk away with a check for $500 and bragging rights for the next year.

The NKU Battle of the Bands will be held this Thursday at Regent’s Hall. The bands scheduled to appear are Brother Baker, Payola, Eightfeet, Lucky 13, Water Ground, Tried By Fire, Deceiving Ralph, and Fizzgig.

According to event coordinator Dustin Lewis, there will be two stages set up, and each band will play for one 30 minute time slot. Crowd members will receive a program at the door containing a ballot that they may drop off with the Activities Programming Board at any time in the evening. After the last band has played its set, the votes will be tallied and the winner will receive a check for $500.

The Activities Programming Board has been planning this event for six months, said Lewis. “This is the first Battle of the Bands at NKU, and we’d like to make it an annual tradition,” he added.
