Sanders leads team with 32 points

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Craig Sanders scored 32 points Saturday night as the Northern Kentucky University men’s basketball team defeated the University of Indianapolis, 80-61, at Nicoson Hall.

Sanders scored 20 points in the first half as NKU (16-6 overall, 12-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference) built a 46-29 lead at intermission. Sanders, who extended his school-record streak of games in double figures to 42, connected on four three-point field goals in the first 20 minutes.

Brenden Stowers finished with 15 points and four assists and has now scored in double figures in 10 consecutive games. The Norse are ranked No. 6 in the latest NCAA II Great Lakes Region poll.

NKU made 49 percent of its shots from the field and hit 83.3 percent of its free throws.

NKU head coach Ken Shields, who had back surgery last week, returned to the sideline Saturday night. Shields had missed the previous five games.
