Lady Norse record 70-54 win over Lewis University; Flanagan scores 19 points

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS – Bridget Flanagan scored 19 points Saturday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball team defeated Lewis University, 70-54, in Regents Hall.

Kristin Polosky added 17 points and six rebounds for NKU, which improved to 16-4 overall, 12-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse are in sole possession of first place in the GLVC and ranked No. 11 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll.

The Norse built a 40-20 halftime lead by holding Lewis (6-14 overall, 3-11 GLVC) to just 26.9 percent shooting from the field. NKU forced the Flyers into 25 turnovers and coasted to its third straight win.

Amy Mobley added 16 points and four assists for NKU, which is now 31-3 all-time against Lewis. The Norse own a 16-1 record against the Flyers in Regents Hall.

NKU played its fifth consecutive game without senior All-America forward Michelle Cottrell, who is sidelined with a stress fracture in her right foot.

NKU will travel to Rensselaer, Ind., this Thursday night for a 6:30 p.m. game against Saint Joseph’s College.
