Isaiah Phillips and Lucy Burns were announced as the 2023-2024 SGA presidential election winners on Thursday night, receiving 319 votes.

Isaiah Phillips is a sophomore psychology and sociology double major, and Lucy Burns is a second-year environmental science and integrative studies double major. Phillips serves as the current SGA vice president, with Burns currently sitting as the university improvements chair.

Their platform centers around “R.E.D.” (Retention, Engagement and Diversity), with a focus on conducting Cultural Competency Training, Victor Talks and a new Instagram page known as WaysToEngageNKU.

Cultural Competency Training is an educational program meant to teach NKU students about diverse identities and help Student Government in supporting different student groups. The training would be embedded in UNV 101 classes, which many freshman students are required to take. Victor Talks are sessions hosted by SGA that spotlight different student identities or groups, such as student-athletes who participated in a Victor Talk this month. WaysToEngageNKU Instagram account will seek to highlight different organizations or events on campus to keep students aware and involved.
