Updates: NKU will be closed again Friday due to winter weather

NKU announced in a message to students and on social media that the university will remain closed on Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, due to severe winter weather in the area. Offices will be closed, and classes and events will be cancelled. The NKU men’s basketball game is still scheduled to be played at 7 p.m. at BB&T Arena on Friday, as previously announced by NKU Athletics.

Athletics Update: February 3, 2022, at 2:25 p.m. EST

The NKU men’s basketball game against Oakland scheduled for Thursday night at BB&T Arena has been moved to 7 p.m. on Friday night due to severe winter weather in the area. The Norse are still scheduled to face Detroit Mercy on Saturday night at 7 p.m.

The Norse will enter Friday’s game against Oakland with an 11-9 record and on a five-game winning streak. The Golden Grizzlies enter Friday at 16-5 and are 9-1 in Horizon League play.

The NKU women’s basketball team is still scheduled to play at Purdue Fort Wayne at 7 p.m on Thursday. That game can be seen on ESPN+. The Norse are 15-4 on the season after defeating UIC on Tuesday, 71-41. NKU has won 10 of their last 11 games dating back to Dec. 5.

February 2, 2022:

Due to inclement winter weather that is expected to hit the tristate area, Northern Kentucky University will be closed on Feb. 3, 2022, the university announced in an email and on social media Wednesday afternoon.

All scheduled classes and events are canceled on Thursday. NKU Athletics will provide an update on Thursday regarding the status of scheduled athletic events, including the men’s basketball game against Oakland at BB&T Arena.

Dining Update

NKU Dining announced that all dining locations except Norse Commons and Callahan Bistro will be closed on Thursday, Feb. 3.

This story will be updated to reflect any new information that becomes available throughout the week.
