NKU women’s basketball team opened up the first round of Horizon League tournament play with a whopping 47 point win over Detroit Mercy. Four Norse brought in double digit performances. Freshman guard Carissa Garcia led with 17 points, sophomore center Emmy Souder had 11 points, shooting 3-of-5 from behind the 3-point line. Sophomore point guard Taylor Clos and freshman forward Tayah Irvin had 10 each.
The Norse shot 50 percent from the field and held the Titans to shooting 36 percent. The Norse will go on to host the no. 5 Milwaukee Panthers Thursday, March 5 at BB&T Arena. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
