NKU women’s basketball team took down the University of Nebraska at Omaha 57-40 Thursday night. The Norse are now 1-4 on the season. Redhshirt senior guard Molly Glick led with 11 points and three rebounds. Freshman guard Carissa Garcia, sophomore forward Emmy Souder, sophomore point guard Taylor Clos followed with eight points a piece.
The Norse started off with a small lead but once Garcia hit back-to-back 3-pointers and a steal passed ahead to freshman point guard Ivy Turner to take an 18-8 lead. At halftime the Norse were up 30-16. NKU held Omaha to 26 percent from the field, while NKU shot 37.5 percent from the field.
NKU started the second half on a 9-0 run, NKU scored 21 points in the third quarter. For the game the Norse shot 33.9 percent from the field and scored 22 points from turnovers. The Omaha Mavericks shot 36 percent from the field and had six points from turnovers. Every member that subbed in put points on the board.
The Norse are back at BB&T Arena Monday, Nov. 25 at 11 a.m. against University of Central Arkansas. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3.
