The NKU volleyball team came away with a split in this weekend’s Bowling Green Invitational, beating IPFW in the first matchup and then losing to Bowling Green in the second game. The Norse are now 3-2 on the season.
Redshirt senior Lauren Hurley was named to the all-tournament team following the tournament, after recording 28 digs, including 15 in the game against Bowling Green.
Tristen Simpson played well in this tournament as well, leading the team in kills with 21. Taylor Snyder record 60 assists in the tournament, continuing her torrid assist pace.
The Norse swept IPFW 25-21, 25-21, and 25-20 in the first game of the day. NKU recorded 46 kills and had a hitting percentage of .287. Simpson had 13 of her kills in this game, while Snyder recorded 34 assists. Haley Libs also contributed 12 kills.
The Norse were then swept by Bowling Green in the next game. The first set was a close set, but NKU fell short 32-30. The next two sets were not close, with Bowling Green crushing the Norse 25-9 and 25-14. The Norse were doomed by errors, committing 27 while the Falcons only committed six errors.
Keely Creamer lead the team in kills in the game with nine. The team struggled to block against the Falcons, only averaging two blocks per set.
The Norse continue their tournament play next weekend, when they travel to the Morehead State Invitational for three games against the MSU, Ball State, and Appalachian State.
